The first St. Andrews Keesara’s Sports Festival took off to a great start at the Keesara campus on November 30. It was a sports day with a difference. Excitement filled the air as teams from 14 schools from different parts of the city enlisted in the festival, geared up to have a fun-packed day of games and physical activity.
The games and activities were organised to include students, parents as well as senior citizens and toddlers. The track and field games were loudly applauded. Kho kho, kabbadi, relays and tug-of-war found enthusiastic participation.
Several indoor games were organised in the new sports block which kept the young and old engrossed. Adding spice to the platter was Zumba, presented by students, orchestrated to music in perfect coordination.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Anup Kumar Yama, Arjuna Awardee and India’s golden boy of artistic skating. In his address, Yama who is ranked 6th in the world urged parents to encourage children to take sports seriously and excel in various arenas to keep the flag flying high on international platforms.
The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, St. Andrews School, Keesara, and CMR were tied for the championship trophy with 26 points. It was awarded to CMR School by the hosts as a goodwill gesture.
