Warangal Urban: Inspired by the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Startup India’ programmes, SR Engineering College (SREC) designed an innovative programme called ‘Make n Market’ to encourage make-in culture and startup culture among the students, which received an overwhelming response.

As many as 370 teams from 27 institutions got mentorship for six weeks from August 4, and 298 of them participated in the demonstration of their prototypes or products at the exhibition organised on the premises of the SREC near here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, principal Dr V Mahesh said creativity and entrepreneurship is the need of the hour and added that educational institutions have a major role to play in this regard.
“Practice based curriculum at SR Engineering College has shown a change in student approach to solve a problem. And on the other hand, students are more curious, logical and interested in solving projects, rather than classroom learning. All these would help in creating an entrepreneurial community. India’s first incubator in tier-2 city, SRiX which is on the premises of SR Engineering College, is open for any citizen of India to incubate their ideas to startups,” he added.

Director, Phoenix Group, Hyderabad, stressed that parents and teachers should not discourage or downplay the curiosity of children, but encourage them to fail and learn. “Today’s generation is tech savvy but not more curious then yesteryears where we repaired our own bicycle and watches. Students should understand technology properly to create more innovations in future,” he added.

Chairman, SR Educational Academy A Varadha Reddi has appreciated young minds for their sincere efforts and innovative ideas.

Director CV Guru Rao has called upon the students to transform knowledge gained in classrooms into skill and eventually potential businesses.
