Hyderabad: Providing opportunity to students to express themselves is Hyderabad-based Stumagz, a digital platform for students and by students. Started by Sri Charan Lakkaraju about a year ago, the student magazine aims to connect all students worldwide through its online magazine and events platform.

After securing a seed fund of Rs 75 lakh at the TiE-ISB Connect 2016, the platform aims to raise up to $1 million (Rs 6.7 crore) funding in the next six months.

Talking about the platform, Stumagz co-founder and Chief Product Officer Fredy Dsv told Telangana Today, “As per rules, every college must have a student magazine but that is not followed by any of the colleges here in India. That is why we thought we should provide the platform for students so that they express themselves apart from giving information about the events happening in their college.”

Currently with about 221 colleges on board, the platform aims to get into 500 colleges all over India by April 2017.

After raising its seed funding, Stumagz is signing official memorandum of understandings (MoU) with colleges, wherein it will select five college avengers and they will be representatives of the magazine that will go online. In near future, the platform is all set to launch new and revamped website and also a Stumagz app wherein it will provide news on the go to students and also provide a platform for college discussions on the app.

Other than helping colleges and students get online, Stumagz is also active on the other end of the spectrum. “We help brands get connected to colleges through its campaigns wherein the former can approach the platform to get into a college. Currently we have 25 brands on board,” informed the CEO Lakkaraju.

The platform has won the Best Startup Award in Design Category in Hysea-Design Summit 2016 and it has facilitated campaigns like Digital Buddy and Visaka Campaign for students specifically.
