Karimnagar: Eid-ul-Fitr has been a low-key affair in erstwhile Karimnagar district. Idgahs and mosques, which used to be jam-packed with the Muslim brethren, wore deserted look amid Covid-19 pandemic. Majority of Muslim community refrained from visiting places of worships and offered prayers from their homes.
Political leaders, who usually host lavish dinners to greet people from Muslim community on the occasion of Ramzan, also avoided such events in the wake of the lockdown. On the other hand, the police made tight security arrangements at Idgahs, mosques and graveyard to prevent the members of Muslim community from gathering for community prayers.
Besides security arrangements, measures have also been taken to maintain physical distancing at mutton, chicken and fish markets.
In Karimnagar, Additional DCP (Administration) G Chandramohan monitored the security arrangements. About 250 police personnel have been deployed to ensure that the festivities were observed in strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.
