People are coming up with their own innovative ways to spread awareness about Covid-19. Whether it was virus-shaped helmets worn by police inspectors on duty or artistes dressed up as Yama chasing violators, lockdown brought out many creators. But one of the spectacular creations was by K Sudhakar who produced a green-coloured ‘Corona Car’. The owner of Hyderabad’s Sudha Cars Museum, the only handmade Wacky Car museum in the world, came up with the idea to spread awareness about the pandemic.
“Sudha Cars museum has always produced cars to give back to the society in our own way for various causes. This time to spread awareness about Covid-19 and to encourage people to stay at home I have made the coronavirus car. I urge people to respect the lockdown and not come out of their houses,” said Sudhakar who holds a Guinness World Record for making the Largest Tricycle in the World.
While describing the six-wheeled fibre body, Sudhakar said, “It took me 10 days to build the car. This one-seater car has a 100CC engine with the capacity to run about 40 km.”
When the car was taken on streets, people came out to their balconies perplexed and astounded to see the ‘virus’ on road. “Anything unusual attracts people’s attention. When I took the car for a ride, heads were turned and people were amazed by the car,” he said.
This isn’t the first time that Sudhakar tried to educate masses with his creation. Previously, to spread the word about AIDS, he made a Condom Bike which had a built-in player that gives a brief history of condoms and AIDS. Among others was a cigarette-shaped bike to urge people to quit smoking and a birdcage car to make people realise the freedom of birds.
Sudhakar’s ‘Wacky Cars’ attracts a lot of tourists. Some of his creations include Brinjal Car, Camera Car, Cricket Ball Car, Golf Ball car, Basket Ball car, Tennis Ball car, Snooker Table car, Shivlinga Car, Cup & Saucer Car, Helmet Car, Computer Car, Double Bed Car, Football Car, etc. Early 20th century models of Cars and Buses (single and double decker) are being used for sightseeing in the city.
