In this day and age, there is plenty of evidence that a degree doesn’t define one’s success. Take, for instance, college dropout Syed Sameer Munna who started pursuing photography at a young age of 16. “I was pursuing intermediate and I quit my education to focus on photography. Coming from a well-educated family, it was not easy for me to convince my parents. My mom and dad are both lawyers and they were upset when I quit studying. But I was confident about my career,” says this young nightlife photographer.
Sameer is now known for his work in fashion photography, personal portfolios, covering concerts, among others. The Hyderabad-based photographer captures the world’s topmost DJs. He has photographed the likes of Marshmello, R3hab, DJ Snake, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Vini Vici, Bassjackers, Mr. White, Marnik, Kshmr, Yellow Claw, Yves, Justin Mylo, Tony Junior, Above & Beyond and Nicky Romero.
“Initially, I used to visit all the night clubs and click pictures for free. I would even pay the entrance fees to get into the clubs, but after a year people started recognising me and that’s how my journey started. Now, we are a team of five,” says Sameer with a smile.
Sameer Clicks team has many talented and energetic photographers who have covered concerts like Sensation, Sunburn Music Festival, Pandora Music Festival, Don’t Let Daddy Know, Vh1 Supersonic, etc. Sameer uploads his work on Instagram and is quite popular on the social media platform.
“One of the most memorable moments of my career is when DJ Justin Mylo appreciated me in front of everybody. It made me more confident and my parents proud,” he says and adds, “I believe in passion. Next, I want to make India proud by being part of global festivals like Tomorrowland. Recently, we were invited to another country for a project. Nightlife photography has a good future for people who are passionate,” concludes Sameer.
