Tablighi Jamaat Markaz office in Hyderabad shut

The police and health officials in the city are busy identifying and shifting the TJ members who had attended the religious gathering in mid-March in Delhi to different designated hospitals in the city for quarantine or screening.

Hyderabad: The Tablighi Jamaat Markaz at the Jamia Masjid in Moazampura Mallepally was temporarily shut by its office bearers in view of the Covid-19 cases reported among Jamaat members.

“A few of the office-bearers were shifted to a hospital for quarantine by health authorities as a precautionary measure. After that, the Jamaat members have closed the office on the premises of the mosque,” said B Narsimha, Additional Inspector, Habeeb Nagar police.

In the first week of March, the police had shifted a few Indonesians who were staying in the Markaz building. They were put under quarantine by the authorities. Some of them were later were found to be Covid-19 positive.

The police and health officials in the city are busy identifying and shifting the TJ members who had attended the religious gathering in mid-March in Delhi to different designated hospitals in the city for quarantine or screening. Families of several members were also shifted to hospitals for quarantine.

According to sources, the police have identified most of the persons who attended the programme. “Now, we are identifying the primary contacts of the TJ members and will shift them for screening in consultation with the health authorities,” said a police official. The police, along with the jamaat members, have reportedly formed surveillance teams to identify Nizamuddin Markaz attendees.
