Cotton fabrics are everyone’s summer favourites. They are cool, elegant and pretty but maintaining these cotton dresses is not an easy task. Cotton needs to be pampered and it needs to be looked after with some extra care, especially during summers.
So, here are a few ways to maintain your cotton fabrics:
Wash it right
It is not good to give the responsibility of washing your cotton dress to a machine. Also, try washing cotton fabrics by yourself or make sure you put them in the washing machine with a gentle spin.
Here and there
During summer, it is common to find sweat patches on your cotton dresses. Give a little more attention to those spots like underarm area and neckline. Give it a little rinse by focusing on those areas before actual wash.
Cotton fabrics have a tendency to shrink notoriously. Keep this nature of fabric in mind before buying, as tight cloths are not very ideal for summers and the fabric may also tear soon.
Remove now than later
Cotton fabrics stain quite easily and it gets difficult to remove them as well. The best option is to try and wash off the stain as soon as possible or pre-soak for a considerable amount of time which makes it easy to remove the stain.
Your cotton clothes need to be ironed as wrinkles make them lose their charm. Give it to a professional or if you are ironing at home, opt for steam ironing for best results.
Direct sunlight hurts
When you line your cotton fabrics to dry, make sure they are away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight tends to fade the colour of the fabrics, especially the dark ones.
