Hyderabad: In a humdinger of a contest, Tamil Nadu edged past a fighting Punjab 75-73 in the boys match on the final day of league action in the 34th Youth National Basketball Championship, organized by the Hyderabad District Basketball Association under the aegis of the Telangana Basketball Association and the Basketball Federation of India, at the SATS Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli on Wednesday.

Rajasthan and Kerala were also involved in a close battle before the former won 80-75 while Delhi prevailed over Karnataka 60-58. All of these teams progressed to the quarterfinals, barring Delhi, which will be relegated to Level 2 next year.

In the girls section, Tamil Nadu and Kerala girls posted easy wins. Punjab had it surprisingly easy win against Madhya Pradesh, winning 61-43, while UP brooked no resistance from Gujarat.
