Mancherial: Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS), affiliate of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which had won a majority of areas in previous polls to recognised trade union of Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL), created history with securing the status for the second time. It has registered victory in polls held on Thursday. Results were declared on Thursday midnight.
The union bagged the largest Srirampur Area, which account for 11,862 voters, by securing 6, 189 votes and a margin of 2,243 votes. It bagged Bellampalli Area with registering 174 votes more than its rival union. However, it could not triumph in Mandamarri Area as opponent AITUC alliance managed to achieve 3,283 votes as against 2,439 casted for TBGKS.
Workers and activists attributed the unprecedented success to strategies of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and captainship of honorary president of the union K Kavita. They also credited Peddapalli MP Balka Suman and leaders of the body for the thumping victory in the polls which were seen as litmus test for performance of TRS-government before General Elections of 2019.
The counting process of votes lasted till 12 pm. Leaders, followers and activists of TBGKS celebrated the victory by bursting crackers and distributing sweets. They hailed Rao and Kavita for sailing the union to retain the status of recognized body of SCCL for the period of 2014-2018. The affiliate had bagged the tag in 2014 elections by clinching 5 Areas out of total 11 Areas.
