Paloncha (Kothagudem): The newly commissioned KTPS 800 MW 7th phase plant faced a technical problem as a conveyor belt supplying coal to the plant broke down on Thursday night.

According to the officials there were two conveyor belts A and B that that supplies coal to the plant. ‘B’ belt broke down at around 11 pm on Thursday night. ‘A’ belt which was down for maintenance has been put into service after emergency repairs.

Soon after the development the workers launched repair works on war footing basis since last night to restore the A belt. The coal reserve in eight bunkers of the unit was being used to generate the power.

Coal in each bunker could run the plant for 2 to 3 hours. In addition to that if required coal could be supplied from the plant’s stacker point, officials said. Workers and officials engaged to fix the broken conveyor belt.
