Hyderabad: Telangana government has reorganised the Commercial Taxes department by sanctioning of 18 new circles and by creation of 161 posts in different categories. Orders to this effect were issued by the government on Tuesday.
The government has now sanctioned three posts of Joint Commissioners, six Deputy Commissioners, 10 Assistant Commissioners, 18 Commercial Tax Officers, 59 Deputy Commercial Tax Officers and 65 Assistant Commercial Tax Officers. The new commercial taxes circles will be, two in Abids division, two in Begumpet division, six in Punjagutta division, one in Secunderabad division, four in Hyderabad rural division, two in Nalgonda division and one in Warangal division.
Meanwhile, the Telangana State Taxes Employees Association has thanked the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar for creation of the new circles and increase in number of posts. The association honorary president T Venkateshwarlu said various initiatives introduced in the department by Somesh Kumar have made Telangana witness a healthy 14 per cent rate in GST. While Telangana was leading in forefront of GST administration, there was a need for rationalisation of circles to ensure a controllable number of tax payers per unit. Creating new posts was also necessary to have effective control over revenue generation, he added. The association has pledged to reciprocate by fetching proportionate and even more additional revenue, Venkateshwarlu said.
