Telangana constitutes State Information Commission

Hyderabad: The State government on Wednesday constituted the first ever Telangana State Information Commission (TSIC) under the Right To Information (RTI) Act. The government also issued orders constituting a committee to be headed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to recommend candidates for posts of State Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners in the Commission.

Opposition leader in TS Legislative Assembly K Jana Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali also will be members of the committee which will function from Samachara Hakku Bhavan at Housing Board Building near Moazzam Jahi market in the city.

Officials said that soon after appointment of the State Chief Information Commissioner and other State Information Commissioners, the TSIC will commence its operations in the State. The committee headed by Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao will meet shortly and recommend the names of information commissioners. the constitution of TS Information Commission has been in the pipeline since bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh where AP Information Commission was taken over by the Andhra Pradesh government and shifted to Vijayawada.
