Telangana Dairy signs MOU with TSREDCO

The Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (TSDDCF) will be powering nine units under its purview with solar energy

Hyderabad: The Telangana government, in a significant move, has decided to use solar power for its main milk plants and milk chilling units in the State to save significantly on power bills. The total capacity of these solar power units will be 1930 KVA.

The Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (TSDDCF) will be powering nine units under its purview with solar energy. The tenth Board meeting of the Federation here on Thursday decided to handover the responsibility to TSREDCO (Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd) and an MOU was signed in the presence of Secretary Animal Husbandry Anitha Rajendra , MD Telangana dairy G Srinivasa Rao and TSREDCO MD Neelam Janaiah .

As per the agreement the TSREDCO will be setting up nine units, at MPF Hyderabad (1000KVA), Warangal dairy -150 KVA), Khammam dairy (100 KVA), Nizamabad dairy (150 KVA), Shadnagar dairy (100 KVA), Kamareddy dairy (150KVA), Siddipet dairy (150 KVA), Medak dairy (100 KVA) and MCC Narayankhed (30 KVA).

The Federation estimates that by switching to solar energy the main dairy here will save Rs 36.75 lakh per year. Similarly the total amount to be saved in districts will be around Rs 34.18 lakh. This way the Telangana dairy will save Rs 71 lakh every year. The TSDDCF will show land to TSREDCO to set up the units and the responsibility of maintaining these solar power units will be on the TSREDCO for a period of 25 years.
