Telangana extends aid to NRIs seeking UAE Amnesty

Hyderabad: NRI Affairs Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday appealed to NRIs from Telangana to avail the opportunity of Amnesty 2018 declared by the government of United Arab Emirates (UAE) from August 1 to October 31. He urged them to use the opportunity and return to India.

During the three-month amnesty period, the UAE government will provide different facilities for the Indian immigrants in UAE, including regularisation of stay for people who are staying illegally. Further, people with valid passports who wish to exit the country may get exit permit without ban and return to India, while people who entered UAE illegally without any documents or visa will get exit clearances with two years ban.

People with expired passports as well as people whose passports were lost or kept by sponsors also can seek exit permit to return to India. People with absconding cases also can return to India.

In a release, the Minister said the officials had been asked to coordinate with the Consulate General of India in Dubai and Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi of UAE for amnesty purpose. He said the NRI Affairs Department was collecting details from the Consulate in Dubai, Embassy in Abu Dhabi and from the people of Telangana State who are staying at UAE.
