Kamareddy: A large number of red gram farmers staged a protest against the negligence by marketing officials in the procurement of the produce at Pitlam market yard in Kamareddy district, demanding an end to the sale of the produce by mediators.

Many farmers had brought their produce to the Pitlam market yard, however, as the officials were purchasing the produce from the mediators and not from them, farmers staged a protest and raised slogans against them.

Sangappa, a red gram farmer, said that he had brought four quintals of red gram two days back, but officials were not purchasing it and were giving high priority to the mediators’ produce.

Due to the protest, traffic on SNA road came to a standstill for nearly an hour. The protest was withdrawn after the police and marketing officials pacified the farmers by assuring them of purchasing their produce.
