Hyderabad: Justice Shameem Akhtar of the Telangana High Court on Monday refused to interfere in the arrest of IT Grids director D Ashok. The company is accused of stealing personal details of about 3.5 crore voters from Andhra Pradesh and also from Hyderabad.

Though the Telangana Police registered an FIR against the company and its director 10 days ago, they were unable to locate Ashok. It is being alleged that the ruling TDP in AP is behind the company. Both the governments of Telangana and AP have formed their individual Special Investigating Teams to look into the alleged data theft.

Ashok had filed a habeas corpus plea in the Telangana High Court seeking production of four of his colleagues alleging that they were illegally detained. Telangana State Public Prosecutor C Pratap Reddy sought time to convey to the court the stand of the police. Senior counsel Sidharth Luthra appearing for Ashok insisted on a stay on the arrest stating that the SIT had already started its probe. Refusing to grant the stay, the judge adjourned the matter to March 20.
