Mancherial: Telangana State Vaidya Vidhana Parishad’s Special Officer Dr Rajasekhar Babu instructed doctors and authorities of Medical and Health department to strive hard to increase the number of normal deliveries at government hospitals.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the government at Mancherial district headquarters here on Wednesday, Rajasekhar said the government was giving paramount importance to provide better healthcare facilities to women and steps were being taken to improve normal deliveries at State-run hospitals. He added that the campaign to disseminate the importance of normal deliveries and to curb Caesarian sections would be launched soon.
The special officer directed the doctors and health officials to ensure that the hospital at the district headquarters would register 80 percent normal deliveries by coming October. He asked them to create awareness among pregnant women over consequences of caesarians and to persuade them to go for normal delivery.
Gynaecologists to be recruited soon
Replying to a query, the SO stated that gynaecologists would be recruited for providing maternal services. The lack of the sufficient hospitals could be overcome once the newly built mother and child hospital is available in the district. Required measures will be taken to make sure that for every 50 deliveries, one gynaecologist is available to take care per month, he said.
Rajasekhar enquired whether new mothers were being given KCR kits and the medical investigations were being provided properly for the patients at the hospital. He told the authorities to review monthly performance of the doctors and instructed them to take steps for encoourage more admissons at government hospital rather than of private nursing homes.
District Health and Medical Officer Dr A Bheeshma and Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr M Yashwanth Rao were also accompanied the official.
