Hyderabad: The Asia’s biggest housing project, which is a part of the State government’s flagship 2BHK housing scheme, coming up at Kollur in Sangareddy will be completed by March 2020.
The project, being developed in 125 acres, will have 15,660 double-bedroom houses with all facilities for the beneficiaries. It is being executed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Telangana Housing Department.
All amenities and infrastructure such as water, electricity, drainage, roads, shopping malls, parks, nursing home, school, library, temple, mosque, church, police outpost, fire station, bus station and parking facility and watchman’s room in each block etc., are being developed in the project.
Additional Chief Secretary for Housing Chitra Ramachandran on Saturday inspected the progress of the project. Stating that the works were on at a brisk pace, Ramachandran said it would be completed by March 2020. To ensure quality in the works, a quality check was being done by the third party on different parameters, including material, paints and even transparency in funding, she said.
“It is one of the dream projects of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, which is coming true. As desired by him, all these houses will be allotted to people from below poverty line, who can live with dignity and self-respect,” she said.
“Once the project is completed, it will be home for about one lakh people. And we can proudly say that such mega projects are also executed by the State government,” she said, adding that impressed with the scale and progress of the world-class project, officials from other States were also taking stock how such a high-quality housing project was possible at a low cost.
All this was possible with the support of stakeholders from other departments and timely funding by the State government, she said and appreciated engineers and contractors for their quality work.
