Siddipet/Medak: Gajwel mandal in Siddipet district and Papannapet mandal in Medak district will soon get a facelift under the third phase of National Rurban Mission. While Gajwel mandal was named Jaligaon cluster, Papannapet mandal was named Papannapet cluster. Under the National Rurban Mission, both clusters will get Rs 30 crore grant each under the Union government’s Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission to provide urban facilities in rural pockets.
The Centre had selected grants for seven clusters in the first two phases under the Rurban Mission in Telangana, however, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had persuaded the Centre to extend the mission to more clusters. The Centre had decided to extend the grant to nine clusters, the highest number of clusters in the country under the third phase, in Telangana State. Administrations of Medak and Siddipet district, which have one cluster each, are busy preparing integrated cluster plan (ICP) and detailed project reports (DPR) for both the clusters.
Speaking to Telangana Today, MPDO, Papannapet, P Rambabu said that Collector Bharthi Holikare has already constituted the district and mandal level committees for implementing the project. As part of the preparations for the ICP, Rambabu said that they have completed the door-to-door survey across the mandal. The MPDO further said that they would submit the ICP to the Centre by September 20.
Siddipet Collector P Venkatrami Reddy also constituted a district level committee on Friday where he was named the convenor of the committee while 28 other officers will serve as its members. Meanwhile, the MPDO, Gajwel, was also busy carrying out the door-to-door survey in Jaligaon cluster. Officials said that they would improve basic amenities like road connectivity, drinking water supply and infrastructure at educational institutions, construct toilets in all households, digg soak pits for water conservation and install solar lights.
