Sangareddy: International Kabaddi Player and noted coach, L Srinivas Reddy, who is a native of Sangareddy district, has become the first Telangana man to coach Indian Kabaddi team.
Srinivas Reddy (40), who had also coached Australian and Korean national teams in the past, was appointed as Indian national Kabadi team coach ahead of Master’s Cup.
In a chat with Telangana Today, Srinivas Reddy has confirmed his appointment as an Indian Team coach. He will be travelling to Dubai with Indian team as a head coach. India will take on Pakistan, Kenya, Argentina, South Korea and Iran for top honours during the week-long tournament to be held between June 22 and 30.
Born in Uttarpally village in Sangareddy district, Reddy has represented Indian team at several levels, but he had tasted more successes as a coach at very young age. He has coached South Korean men’s team, which had won first Bronze medal in Guangzhou-2014 Asian Games.
Later, he was appointed as national team coach of Australian Kabadi team during the world championships in 2016. In the Pro-Kabadi league, Reddy, had successful tenures as an assistant coach of Telugu Titans and Haryana Steelers.
Elated over his appointment as coach of Indian team, Reddy has also informed that he is going to mentor Jaipur Pink Panthers in the upcoming Pro-Kabadi league. The Kabadi coach, who was graduated from Tara Government Degree College, Sangareddy, married to Radhika Reddy, a national level Kabadi player. Radhika was working as a TV Commentator.
Uttarapally village was rejoiced the appointment of Reddy. Sarpanch of the village, Prasad has said that Srinivas Reddy has brought fame to their village. Stating that Reddy has proved that anyone can achieve anything, Prasad said that the Kabadi player has become a source of inspiration for the youth in the village.
