Telangana: Online betting claims the life of a youth in Karimnagar

The body of the youth was trapped in the fishing net arranged by fishermen near Yadavulapalli of Thimmapur mandal on Friday morning.

Karimnagar: Online betting claimed the life of an engineering graduate. Unable to digest the loss of money, the 22 year old youth committed suicide by jumping into Kakatiya canal near Alugunur, Thimmapur mandal in the outskirts of Karimnagar town.

The body of the youth was trapped in the fishing net arranged by fishermen near Yadavulapalli of Thimmapur mandal on Friday morning.

A native of Kothirampur of Karimnagar town, Naresh was pursuing B.Tech final year in Jyothismathi Engineering College.

According to police, addicted to online betting, Naresh invested about Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh in online betting by borrowing money from others. Though parents have cleared all debts, he took the extreme step.

LMD Sub-Inspector, Krishna Reddy said according to parents, Naresh has been feeling guilty though all debts were cleared. Unable to come out of guilt, Naresh took an extreme step by jumping into Kakatiya canal at around 4 pm on Thursday.

Fishermen, who found the dead body trapped in a fishing net, informed the matter to police. After coming to know about the incident, police fished out the body and shifted to district headquarters hospital for postmortem.
