Telangana Schools set to reopen on Wednesday after extended vacation

Hyderabad: After an extended summer vacation, schools in the State are set to re-open for academic year 2019-20 on Wednesday.

This year, the number of holidays for Dasara festival has been increased to 16 days i.e., from September 28 to October 13, as against 13 days in the last academic year. The vacation for Sankranti festival will be from January 11, 2020 to January 16 which translate to six days as against seven days last academic year.

According to academic calendar issued by the education department here on Tuesday, all schools have to re-open on June 12 and they will work for 232 days with the last working day being April 23, 2020.

For the academic year 2020-21 too, the schools will commence on June 12 after summer vacation from April 24 to June 11.

As per the calendar, class X syllabus should be completed by January 10, 2020 and pre-final exams by February 29, 2020 while SSC Public Examination will be held in March, 2020. In case for classes I to IX, the syllabus must
be completed by February 29, 2020.

In order to achieve desired learning outcomes, regular attendance is a pre-requisite and government schools were directed to take necessary actions for achieving more than 90 per cent of student attendance at any given point of time in every the school.
