Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said Telangana was becoming a role model for other States in the country in terms of paddy procurement and civil supplies system using novel technology and reforms by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
He said delegates from about 33 countries along with those from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala as well as the Central government and other reputed organisations visited Telangana to study its initiatives in these sectors.
Releasing the Civil Supplies Annual Report-2019 at his chambers in the State Secretariat on Wednesday, Niranjan Reddy said the Civil Supplies Department was using latest technology to benefit both farmers and also the poor.
He said several initiatives such as e-PASS, IRIS, T-ration shop, ration portability, GPS for vehicles transporting rice and other initiatives brought down corruption and irregularities in the civil supplies system. He said about 2.83 cr people were benefiting from fair price shops every month.
Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Mareddy Srinivas Reddy said the government was making all efforts to procure paddy produced by farmers and ensure them minimum support price for their crop. Civil Supplies Commissioner Akun Sabharwal said the novel initiatives by the department were benefiting both the farmers and the poor.
