Telangana SHRC orders probe into alleged police intervention in civil dispute

The complainant, Kalva Devadas of Nehru Nagar at Paloncha town, alleged that the police officials had intervened in a civil dispute and allegedly supported his rival party at the behest of a political leader.

Kothagudem: The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has issued notice to Bhadradri Kothagudem District Collector MV Reddy directing him to inquire into a complaint lodged by a farmer against an SI, CI and Superintendent of Police.

The complainant, Kalva Devadas of Nehru Nagar at Paloncha town, alleged that the police officials had intervened in a civil dispute and allegedly supported his rival party at the behest of a political leader.

In the notice issued on Monday, the Commission wanted the Collector to appoint an officer not below the rank of Revenue Divisional Officer to probe into the matter and submit a report concerning the complaint by July 31.

The contents of the complaint lodged before the SHRC were as follows; Devadas owns five acres of land assigned to him by the government in 1976 in survey number 817 of Paloncha village and was engaged in agriculture. The land is valued at Rs 2 crore.

Ponnala Nagaraju asked Devadas to sell the land which the latter rejected, But Nagaraju with an intent to grab the land owned by Devadas approached the court many times and his petitions were not admitted. Then he took the support of the police to grab the land.

Paloncha SI J Praveen, CI Naveen Kumar, Mulkalpalli SI Suresh along with a few rowdy elements and former naxals entered the said land and damaged standing crops and structures on June 6 and 9 with earth movers, the complainant alleged.
