Telangana to have new Passport Seva Kendra at Zaheerabad

Hyderabad: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), in coordination with the Department of Posts (DoP), has decided to open a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) at Zaheerabad soon.

The upcoming facility would be among the 38 POPSKs that would be started under Phase-III, taking the total number of POPSKs to 289 in the country.

In the first two phases, it was decided to open 251 POPSKs out of which 192 have become functional as on May 14. Out of these, seven are in Telangana and are already functional. These are at Adilabad, Khammam, Medak, Mahboobnagar, Nalgonda, Siddipet and Warangal (Hanamkonda).

The MEA has decided to utilize the head post offices and post offices in the country as POPSKs for delivery of passport related services to citizens. The MEA’s objective was to extend passport related services on a large scale and ensure wide area coverage, according to a press release.
