Hyderabad: The State government has decided to release Rs 10 crore for each municipality in the State to facilitate all round development.
Industries, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday said there were a few municipalities which were lagging behind in taking up developmental works due to lack of staff. He also asked the officials to immediately submit an Urban Development Master Plan for all the 30 district headquarters to the Urban Development Authority.
At a review meeting with officials of the department, he said the officials must draw up the Siddipet Urban Development Authority (SUDA) immediately by merging 13 villages with Siddipet town. “Every municipality should be transformed into an ideal municipality,” he said.
During a review meeting of erstwhile Medak district along with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, he said: “The district must be made Open Defecation Free (ODF) and every town must be made a Swachh town. We have all the vehicles ready to take up this task.” He also envisioned that every town must begin with waste segregation and asked the officials to implement this programme from the ward level.
The Rs 10 crore fund will be given for development of parks, model markets, graveyard development and construction of public toilets. Rama Rao also said the decision was taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to change all the existing panchayats which have population of 15,000 into Nagar Panchayats.
