Hyderabad: The Telangana State Department of Tourism celebrated World Tourism Day, along with the Paryatan Parv programme, with full fervor at the historic Taramati Baradari here on Friday.
The Department organized various events to highlight the social, cultural, political and economic value of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana State Legislative Council chairman K Swamy Goud stressed on the close linkage of culture and tourism in the State and how Telangana’s rich cultural heritage needed to be protected and projected well to make them major tourism attractions.
The State Government, as part of Paryatan Parv, also showcased heritage monuments and structures at various tourist destinations of Telangana.
A Chandulal, Minister for Tourism and Culture, in his address highlighted the need to drastically improve the tourist arrivals in the State. He also said that tourism was needed for two reasons, namely providing employment to the people and to become an engine of growth.
