Hyderabad: Minister for Panchayati Raj, Jupally Krishna Rao on Friday released water to canal no 160 under the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation scheme.

The canal will meet the irrigation needs of the tail- end ayacutdars particularly farmers in Jangareddypalli village of Kalwakurthy mandal.  Farmers who assembled on the canal banks in large numbers, welcomed the water release and thanked the Minister and the government with thunderous applause for fulfilling what they called a dream.

The Minister had a review with the irrigation officials on the spot. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Chief Minister had been striving to give water to one crore acres by all means. The Government would foil every attempt being made by the Congress and other opposition parties to stall the works in progress on the various irrigation projects.
