Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman from Beeramguda, Sangareddy district has been reportedly stranded in Saudi Arabia for the past seven months. The woman, identified as Naseem Begum, was allegedly cheated by two travel agents who promised her a job in a supermarket and instead put her to work as a waitress.

According to Naseem Begum’s mother Afzal Bee, Begum was approached by a travel agent Mohammed Adil , a resident of Golconda and operating from Mumbai and Hyderabad who offered a job in a supermarket in Saudi Arabia for 1000 Saudi Riyals.

“She travelled to Saudi Arabia in June last year. When she reached Riyadh, she was received by another agent and handed over to another person, where she was asked to work as a waitress in five different houses till now,” Bee said.

She was being asked to work for nearly 15 hours daily without proper food and accommodation. She has left behind two kids aged three years and one year.

Bee further said, “My daughter wanted to return due to work pressure and asked them to release her, but they started demanding Rs 3 lakh for the same. She was informed by her employer that he had bought her for Rs 3 lakh.”

When Begum’s family contacted Adil asking him to bring her back, he started abusing them.

Afzal Bee has written to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and requested her to take up the issue with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh to rescue her daughter.
