Hyderabad: While fervent celebrations continued across Hyderabad and Telangana for the third Formation Day of the State, supporters of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and TRS party celebrated the special day in East Ham, London, as well. Scores of Telanganaites, including entrepreneurs and heads of social organisations, joined in.
The event was held by the group ‘KCR and TRS Supporters of UK’ (KTSUK).
The celebrations were kicked off by honouring leading lights of the Telangana movement such as Professor Jayashankar (Kothapalli Jayashankar) and R Vidyasagar Rao. Special tributes in the form of candle light vigils were paid to martyrs of the Telangana movement.
Group founder chairman Ceeka Chandra Shaker Goud said Chief minister KCR should be called as the Gandhi of Telangana, who has done fast-unto-death protests, leading to the formation of a separate Telangana on June 2, 2014.
“KTSUK is formed out of our love for the TRS party under KCR leadership, and we will work to strengthen the party in UK and Europe,” the Goud said.
At the event, the organisers showcased the development works taken up by the TRS government.
Group member Nagesh Reddy said KTSUK promotes the Telangana State, its culture and its leadership in the UK through social work, such as promoting Telangana handloom, creating videos for awareness, and setting up stalls in local community events.
Children and women attended the event in large numbers, and took part in round-table discussions about the three years of TRS government.
A cake was cut and a feast held for guests.
