Hyderabad: The British Nuclear Medicine Society has honoured Prof. Sobhan Vinjamuri with President’s Medal for the year 2020 for his exceptional contributions.
Prof. Sobhan Vinjamuri leads one of the largest Nuclear Medicine Departments in the United Kingdom at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, and has successfully led the Radionuclide Brain Imaging Service for Dementia.
He has been serving as a key leader in medicine from 1998, and has served internationally on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He was also conferred Vikram Sarabhai Memorial Oration Award at the 49th Annual Conference of Society of Nuclear Medicine, India (SNMI) in 2017. Prof. Vinjamuri served as the President of British Nuclear Medicine Society (BNMS) during 2016-2018, the first-ever medic of Indian background to serve the Society in that capacity. The 50th anniversary of BNMS was also marked during his tenure. He co-edits Nuclear Medicine Communications, the specialty journal in the U.K. The BNMS is an important forum for medics, scientists, chemists, nurses, technologists and everyone interested in radioisotope studies.
He is working in Royal Liverpool University Hospital in the UK since 1998. His mother lives in Hyderabad now.
