Hyderabad: Senior Telugu actor Jayaprakash Reddy passed away on Tuesday morning after he collapsed in the washroom at his residence in Guntur following a heart stroke.
Jayaprakash had been staying at his hometown since March following the lockdown imposed due to the coronavirus. Known for his self-deprecating roles as a villain, comedian and character artiste, Jayaprakash who was fondly called JP in film circles, had carved a niche for himself on Telugu silver screen.
Born into a middle-class family in 1945, JP made his debut in 1988. It was actor Vekatesh’s superhit movie Preminchukundam Raa that gave JP much needed break and cemented his place as a comedian in the industry in 1997. JP was equally popular for his Rayalaseema slang. He acted in over 100 Telugu movies.
