Hyderabad: Telugu actor-turned-director Tharun Bhascker on Sunday planted saplings at his residence in Banjara Hills along with his mother Geetha Bhascker.

Accepting the Green India Challenge from Telugu singer Rahul Sipligunj, Tharun urged people to plant more trees to make the environment livable.

“I am happy to take part in the initiative which was started by Rajya Sabha member J.Santhosh Kumar. Many celebrities have been participating to send out a message. Given the prevailing conditions in the country, such green challenge initiatives are the need of the hour. Coronavirus has taught us a lesson and the onus is on everyone to protect our environment. Such green challenges will benefit the society for sure,” he said adding that he would like to nominate Vijay Deverakonda, Ritu Varma and Abhay Bhethiganti to take up the Green India Challenge.

On the work front, Tharun launched a new talk show Neeku Maathrame Cheptha. However, the show stopped due to the pandemic. Tharun who is active on social media, has recently shared storyboard sketches of his debut film Pelli Choopulu starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ritu Varma.
