The Ramzan season is here and that brings with it the most-awaited delicacy — haleem. This month is just incomplete without haleem lovers swamping the little pop-ups in every part of the city to get their daily dose of the dish which is a stew of meat, lentils, and wheat mixed with spices. The lip-smacking delicacy has been an integral part of Hyderabad’s food culture, especially during this holy month of Ramzan. So desired is the dish that some haleem joints even started offering vegetarian haleem though the original dish is predominantly a meat one.
There are many big restaurants like Pista House, Shah Ghouse, Sarvi, and Cafe 555 which sell haleem both online and offline; there are also many small haleem joints in every nook and corner of the city. So, we at Tabloid Today took it upon us to give our readers a list these undiscovered jewels. To trace the locations of the tasty yet not-so-popular eateries which offer a delicious haleem, we asked our Instagram followers to tip us off about their preferred haleem destination, including the popular ones or any small outlet in their vicinity.
As a result of this exercise, along with the popular haleem brands, many small and new names have come to our notice. While Shah Ghouse, Cafe 555, Pista House were the top choices of the users, Grill 9, Parivar, Bahar Cafe, and Chicha’s made it to the haleem-destination list.
“I had haleem in Pista House, Shah Ghouse, Cafe 555, Peshawar, Grand Hotel, Prince but Bahar Cafe is good,” said a user with the handle @nawab_mir_fahad_ali_khan.
@krishna_psk said that Pista House serves the best haleem with original taste. While @pawan.valluri said, “Grill 9 at Karkhana is one of the best haleems in this season.”
Another user @siasimonz said, “Soda Bottle Opener Wala has good stuff. Haleem topped with tala hua gosht.” She also added that ‘aslee Hyderabadi haleem’ is offered at Chicha’s. @drippingfaith said that haleem at Original Shawarma located in Banjara Hills is of another level.
Also, some of them expressed how they love the dish, “When it comes to Ramzan, I forget all the food because I know only haleem to eat,” said @sunilnayak_99. While @imakankshav said, “Season’s first haleem is always the best.”Some of the users shared the address of newly-opened haleem places in their locality, “New and first of its kind is the outlet in Kompally at 360°C. The taste of this haleem is just out of the world,” said @rohith_vakrala.
Though the haleem battle is won by the classic, famous restaurants, many users who responded believe that the other popular haleem joints like Parivar, and Ratna at ECIL, Shahzade at Tolichowki, Capital at Moosarambagh, Shadab Cafe at Pathergatti, Sohail Hotel in Malakpet, Pasha Haleem near MNJ Hospital, MMB Haleem on JNTU Road, Master Chef in Uppal, Hotel Ramser in Secunderabad, City Diamond, Pakwan Grand, Yum Yum Tree deserve a special mention.
