While the Telugu film industry eagerly waits to get back on to the sets, once work gets resumed — film shooting or production work, it’s not going to be any new normal for filmmakers. Before bringing in cast and crew on sets and resume shoot, one needs to ensure the guidelines are in place.

Several aspects are to be checked before commencing shoot — be it indoor or outdoor — as several restrictions are likely to be in place in the view of coronavirus threat. Following the outcome of the meeting between the delegation of Telugu film industry and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the onus of submitting guidelines to the State government is on the Telugu cinema industry now.

“We were asked to submit the guidelines to the government because the responsibility is on us. What measures are to be taken during shootings, how we are going to implement them strictly, how diligently film production companies should follow them, and precautions for cast and crew, etc., need to be considered.

Guidelines are being prepared and probably be submitted to the government in the coming week,” said producer C Kalyan who was part of the delegation that met the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, a rumour is doing rounds that theatres and multiplexes in Telangana will be resumed from August first week. Reacting on it, Kalyan said, “Business must resume before August, probably theatres should be ready for new releases in July. The Central government is likely to take a decision on it next month.”

Acting with corona

As it appears, working with co-stars while keeping restrictions in view is going be tiresome for stars on the sets. Actor Lavanya Tripati, who has some part of the shoot left in the upcoming sports drama A1 Express, shared that she is a bit worried about how things shape up.

“Virus has affected the industry big time. However, the show must go on. We can’t sit back at home ever. Of course, I am scared to go back to the sets with the whole team. We have to adjust on a lot of things. I am yet to see what sort of measures that my production house is going to take. But from my side, I am going to be as careful as possible — with masks on, sanitising my personal team.

I can do whatever is within my reach. The rest depends on the production house. Even if one person is asymptomatic, we will be in trouble and shoot might get stopped,” she says. When asked how she would manage to do intimate scenes with co-stars, she said, “I would try to avoid such scenes as much as possible. But, I’m done with romantic part with actor Sundeep Kishan in A1 Express before the lockdown. So, no worries,” she signs off.
