Three-day conference on translation in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The 2nd international annual conference on ‘Translation Across Borders: Genres and Geographies’ has been organised by the Centre for Advanced Research and Training – Translation and Multilingualism, Osmania University, and Caesurae Collective Society in collaboration with Department of English, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU).

Dr. Tharakeshwar V. B., Department of Translation Studies, EFLU while elaborating on the theme of the conference said that the importance and relevance of Translation is increasing day by day. He emphasised that “translation is not just across languages but across genres”, according to a press release.

In his address, Prof. T Vijay Kumar, OU, emphasised on various resources in translation available in Osmania University. Multilingualism is in the DNA of Osmania University, he revealed, and referred to its logo having Urdu, Hindi, English and Telugu alphabets. He also appreciated the collaboration between OU and MANUU for this conference.

Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor, appreciated efforts being invested into organizing the conference said the forum would help scholars and academic fraternity.

Prof. Naseemuddin Farees, Dean of School of Languages, Linguistics & Indology, MANUU, and Prof. Deborah Logan and Dr. Rochelle Almeida from United States among others participated in the conference, the release added.
