Nalgonda: Three persons — two in Nalgonda and one in Nagarkurnool districts — died in lightning strikes on Wednesday when thundershowers lashed some districts of Telangana. Two of them were teenagers.

In the first incident in Nalgonda, Mudavath Ganesh, a teenager, died when he was struck by lightning at Brahmanapally thanda in Dindi mandal. With the holidays on, the Class IX student had taken his family’s cattle to an agricultural field for grazing. It started raining and Ganesh left the animals in the field. He was on his way back home when lightning struck him. He died on the spot. Ganesh was the son of farmer couple Parvathalu and Vijaya.

In the second incident, Jakkala Madhavi, a 16-year-old girl, died at Silarmiyagudem village in Thipparthi mandal when she was working in the fields. Thipparthy, Dindi, Shaligowraram, Ammanabolu and Thirumalagir (Sagar) in the district witnessed rains and strong winds in the evening.

Meanwhile, gale and lightning strikes claimed a man’s life and killed two bulls in different areas of Nagarkurnool district. Eedamaiah (55), a resident of Appaipally village of Lingal mandal, died in his field. Achampet MLA Guvvala Balraju met his family and consoled them as soon as he learnt about the incident. He promised to extend all possible support to the bereaved family.
