Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Three persons were arrested for allegedly raping a street vendor belonging to Jainoor mandal cenrtre and then killing her four days back. They were produced before media here on Wednesday. A knife and mobile phone were recovered from them.
Superintendent of Police M Malla Reddy said that the accused were Shaik Babu, Shaik Shaboddin and Shaik Mukdum, residents and laborers from Yellapatar village in Jainoor mandal. They were detained while moving suspiciously in Jainoor on Wednesday.
During the course of interrogation, the three confessed to have forcibly raped and killed the vendor by slitting her throat with a knife as she refused to succumb, when the lone woman was on her way to a Ramnayak Thanda in Lingapur mandal on Sunday at around 10 30 am. They admitted that they had dumped the body in bushes and fled the spot after committing the crime.
Malla Reddy informed that steps were being taken to file charge-sheet within two months by gathering evidence and completing the process of investigations in a span of six months. He stated that the Preventive Detention Act would be invoked against three. He added that awareness would be created among the public to prevent crimes against women.
On Sunday, the woman, identified as Teku Laxmi (30), wife of Gopi, was sexually assaulted and was killed by the three. She originally hails from Khanapur mandal in Nirmal district. Her body was found in a pool of blood on Monday.
