Three pseudo Maoists held in Asifabad for extortion

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Three persons were arrested for allegedly trying to extort huge sums from civil contractors, politicians and businessmen by posing themselves as Maoists, in Asifabad on Monday. A dummy pistol, two fake revolvers, four mobile phones, four red color flags and a motorbike were seized from them.

Asifabad police said that the accused were identified as Kotnaka Bheem Rao, Kotnaka Raghunath and Dandugula Bheemrao, all natives of Kerameri mandal. They were detained when they were on their way to Rebbena where they were planning to extract money from a contractor, following a tip.

During the course of interrogations, the trio confessed to demanding money from certain civil contractors, politicians and businessmen belonging to Rebbena and Tiryani mandals and many other parts by making phone calls. They admitted that they committed the offence after reading news reports about movement of Maoists in the district in recent times.

They revealed that they had grabbed the motorbike of a person who was proceeding to Kerameri from Asifabad recently by claiming to be extremists.
