Hyderabad: Tollywood had a special day on Wednesday with Radio City India presenting Radio City Cine Awards for the year 2017. The awards were presented to the nominees based on votes. According to reports, Radio City has received over 1.33 crore votes. The nominees were presented the awards on Wednesday for the following categories.
For the Best Actor Award, actor Jr. NTR was awarded the Radio City Cine Awards in the male category for Jai Lava Kusa. The actor also bagged the ‘Best Villain’ award for the same film for his outstanding role. Meanwhile, for the ‘Best Actress’ award, Rakul Preet Singh bagged the award for the following films — Rarandoi Veduka Chudham, Jaya Janaki Nayaka, Dhruva and Spyder.
The film, Jai Lava Kusa also bagged the Best Song for the year 2017, ‘Raavana’ which was sung by Divya Kumar with Devi Sri Prasad composing the music.
With the best tracks in Fidaa’s, starring Sai Pallavi and Varun Tej, The 2nd runner-up at the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, Hemachandra was awarded Best Male Singer Award for Oosupodu (Fidaa) and Nee Kallalona (Jai Lava Kusa). In the female category Nikhitha Gandhi won the Radio City Cine Award for Spyder’s Bhoom-Bhoom track.
With Ninnu Kori and Jai Lava Kusa winning the hearts of the audience, Kona Venkat won the award for the ‘Best Dialouge’ category.
The Premam girl, who was known for her role as Malar which was a big hit in South India; and stealing the hearts of the Telugu audience in Fidaa with her Telangana slang sharing her lead with Varun Tej has won ‘Wholesome Family Entertainer’ of the year award. The Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekhar Rao also appreciated the team. The Chief Minister personally called the movie’s director Sekhar Kammula and producer Dil Raju to appreciate their novel effort in portraying relations and culture of Telangana in the movie.
Mega Star Chiranjeevi who hit the screen after a long gap and completed his 150th film, won ‘Mega Performance of the Year’ for Khaidi No. 150 (English: Prisoner No. 150). Lyricists Chandrabose also won ‘Best Lyricist’ award for Dhurva Dhurva, Next Enti and Raavana.
