Top priority for workers and public safety: AP Tourism Minister

Talking to media after visiting the Sainor Life Sciences Ltd unit at Pharma City in Parawada on Tuesday, he said that a gas leak incident had occurred at the unit due to human error and the district administration responded immediately.

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh government is according top priority to the safety of workers and people, Tourism minister Avanti Srinivasa Rao has said.

Talking to media after visiting the Sainor Life Sciences Ltd unit at Pharma City in Parawada on Tuesday, he said that a gas leak incident had occurred at the unit due to human error and the district administration responded immediately.

“Six of the victims were shifted to hospital for treatment. Two of them died while four others are recovering. I have arrived from Vijayawada at the direction of Chief Minister,” he stated.

The minister also noted that there should be industrial development but at the same time all steps would be taken with respect to safety of workers and the public. The management of industries should adhere to safety norms.

A committee was constituted to inquire into the accident and action would be taken on those responsible for the incident after getting the report, he said.
