Hyderabad: A book ‘History of Modern Telangana’, which traces State’s history from establishment of Asaf Jahi reign in the 18th century till the formation of Telangana State in June, 2014, authored by Dr Bhangya Bhukya was released here on Monday.
The book was released by Chairman, Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) Professor Ghanta Chakrapani. It primarily deals with the socio-economic and political developments that took place in the region during this period.
According to a statement, the book studies the rich history of Telangana in the context of historical events taking place simultaneously in the rest of India. In the process, it offers a critical and comprehensive understanding of the modern history of Telangana from a linear perspective.
The book has also attempted to explore the unique political and administrative structures of Nizam’s era and the changes brought about through British influence during the colonial period, a statement said.
According to the author, the ‘History of Modern Telangana’ is also an attempt to record the political processes and structures that were shaped by various people’s movements that occurred in the Telangana region in the first half of the 20th century.
Joint Action Committee of Telangana Praja Sanghalu Chairman Professor I Thirumali, Professor Aloka Parasher-Sen from the Department of History, University of Hyderabad, and others were present.
