Warangal Urban: Entrepreneurship is about identifying the pain point of the society and transforming the idea to resolve that point into a sustainable business venture, said Archan Deb, Manager, Incubation at IIM Calcutta Innovation Park.
Tata Group in association with IIM Calcutta-Innovation Park held the ‘Tata SE Challenge Seminar on Thinking Social’ at SR Innovation Exchange (SriX) on Wednesday. The programme was supported by SRiX.
He said, “A social entrepreneur is one who through his innovative business venture brings about major positive changes in the lives of people at the bottom of the pyramid.”
“Industries think and act globally, the local problems are not addressed, social entrepreneurs are the need of the hour to create a paradigm shift. This initiative is just the beginning of many,” said Sreedevi Devireddy, CEO of SR Innovation Exchange.
To promote social entrepreneurship and to expand the reach of Tata Social Enterprise Challenge, ‘Thinking Social’ initiatives were started in 2014. This initiative aims to create leaders in the social entrepreneurship domain, through a series of student seminars, industry round tables and lecture series across India. Through these initiatives the Tata group and IIM-C hopes to find more students from India’s best Institutes for Social Entrepreneurship.
Kalyan Sivasailam, founder, 5C Networks; NSD Prasad Rao, founder and CEO, Ameya Life; Sanjay Kumar, founder, Milletbowl; and Kiran Vuppala, founder, CereliaNutritech; also addressed the seminar.
Social entrepreneurship enthusiasts, students and faculty of SREC and SRITW attended the seminar.
