‘Tried a lot to put Kakatiya Varsity on the development track and succeeded’

Speaking to the media men on this occasion, Sayanna had thanked Chief Minister for offering him the VC post and added that he tried a lot to put the varsity on the development track and succeeded in getting place among the top 20 universities in the country.

Warangal Urban: Thanking Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for giving him an opportunity to serve the Kakatiya University (KU) Vice-Chancellor, outgoing VC Prof R Sayanna said that he with the active support of the teaching and non-teaching staff had worked hard to see that the varsity is accredited with ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) during his tenure. Dr R Sayanna, Professor of Physics (Rtd), Osmania University, Hyderabad, who assumed the office as Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University, Warangal on July 25, 2016, is going to demit the office as his tenure ends on July 24 this month.

Speaking to the media men on this occasion, Sayanna had thanked Chief Minister for offering him the VC post and added that he tried a lot to put the varsity on the development track and succeeded in getting place among the top 20 universities in the country. “The varsity was able to accredited with ‘A’ grade with the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.36 points,” he said adding that the varsity also got good rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

“While Rs 50 crore were sanctioned for the varsity under RUSA by the Centre, Rs 4.5 crore have been released recently as first installment,” he said and hoped that the State government would release Rs 3 crore as matching grant. Stating that he had tried a lot lessen the burden on the hostels, he said that the varsity had constructed a 450 bed hostels for the men with Rs 18 crore. “The works have been almost completed and the hostel is ready for inauguration,” he added. Registrar Prof K Purushotham was present at the press meet.
