Hyderabad: A woman from the city complained to the police that her husband had sent her a divorce notice through Whatsapp.

The woman Badar Ibraheem, an MBA, had claimed that she received the talaq message from Mudassir Ahmed Khan, a software analyst who works for a Saudi investment bank in Riyadh.

The marriage was held in February 2016 and after staying for 20 days, the man left for Saudi Arabia.

“In September, Mudassir sent a Whatsapp message with the word ‘talaq’ written thrice,” Badar told media persons. ”I will pray that you will get better groom,” he said, refusing to respond to her questions.

Days later, Ms Ibraheem received a “Talaaqnama” or divorce papers along with a legal notice.

The government, she says, must bring a strict law against the misuse of “triple talaaq”, she demanded.
