Hyderabad: Indicating a rise in political temperature in the State, the ruling TRS and the main opposition Congress indulged in a verbal battle over Industries Minister K T Rama Rao’s remarks against Congress and its national president Rahul Gandhi. While Rao termed Rahul Gandhi as the biggest ‘Pappu’ in Indian politics, he called Congress party a loafer party.

Congress Legislative Party floor leader K Jana Reddy and his team termed the Minister’s statements as foolish and condemned them, TRS leaders defended the Minister stating that the Congress leaders were fit to be called loafers as they were obstructing government programmes that are beneficial to the people.

Jana Reddy found Rama Rao’s remarks on Congress and its national president Rahul Gandhi objectionable. He condemned the statements terming them as irresponsible. “I have suggested to my fellow partymen not to use such words even if the TRS leaders provoke them,” he said.

He urged political leaders to set a good example for younger generations. He expressed displeasure over TRS not giving the due respect to Sonia Gandhi and Congress which delivered Telangana State. He claimed that Rahul Gandhi proved his mettle and would lead Congress to victory in the 2019 elections.

Former Ministers and Congress MLAs T Jeevan Reddy and J Geetha Reddy alleged that the TRS MPs have lost their fighting spirit in the Parliament when Prime Minister Narendra Modi found fault with formation of Telangana State. They said KT Rama Rao was well-educated and it was not fit for him to stoop to low levels and use such objectionable language against a national party.

However, the TRS leaders defended Rama Rao stating that the latter was only responding to the cheap stunts by the Congress leaders and his remarks were befitting to the behaviour of Congress leaders. Government Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy alleged that the Congress leaders lacked spine and those who termed Sonia Gandhi as Goddess of Death, have now joined Congress party and criticising the Chief Minister and his family members.

“The Congress leaders pledged interests of the Telangana people with their party high command for their personal gains and they deserve to be called as loafers for their deeds,” he said. He said Minister KT Rama Rao’s stature was no less than Rahul Gandhi and Uttam Kumar Reddy.

MLC Karne Prabhakar said TRS has maintained patience despite provocative statements by the Congress leaders which will not be tolerated anymore.

He said KT Rama Rao was only reflecting the opinion of people of Telangana. He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao proved himself as Baahubali of Telangana State and hence, people voted him to power.

“Despite their defeat, Congress leaders are acting like Kalakeyas and obstructing developmental activities by the government,” he remarked.

MLC Shambhipur Raju and MLA Ganesh Bigala also alleged that people will not tolerate the Congress party and its lies but would drag it to the roads after 2019 elections.
