Khammam: Telangana Liberation Day was celebrated at the TRS Bhavan, the party district headquarters here on Thursday.
The party leaders paid rich homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the liberation of Telangana from the tyranny of Razakar forces of erstwhile Nizams of Hyderabad and feudal landlords.
TRS state secretary Tata Madhu hoisted the national flag at the party office along with SUDA Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar, Mayor G Papalal, the party office in-charge RJC Krishna, TRS party town president Kamartapu Murali and others.
The party leaders also offered floral tributes to Telangana ideologue K Jayashanker. Speaking on the occasion, Madhu, Vijay Kumar and others noted that huge number of people were martyred during the struggle against the Razakars’ tyranny.
Later in the fight for separate Telangana, many students and youth sacrificed their lives. The TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao who united the Telangana society has put his life at risk to achieve statehood for the region, they noted.
The leaders said BJP leaders, who failed to make any significant contribution to the Statehood cause, were now trying to divide Telangana society on communal lines. The BJP should stop trying to draw political mileage from divisive politics, the leaders suggested.
Krishna recalled that Khammam district played a crucial role in Telangana Armed Struggle and informed that the Liberation Day was celebrated at the directions of the party high command.
SUDA directors D Kishore Babu, M Ramakrishna, Kollu Padma, MBC Associatiom district president Shaik Shakina and others were present.
