Hyderabad: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Monday swept all the nine Municipal Corporations, winning the Mayors’ and Deputy Mayors’ (except in Nizamabad) posts in Ramagundam, Badangpet, Meerpet, Bandlaguda Jagir, Boduppal, Peerzadiguda, Jawaharnagar, Nizampet and Nizamabad Municipal Corporations.
In Nizambad, the AIMIM candidate was elected as Deputy Mayor with the BJP preferring to sit in opposition.
On the Municipality front also, TRS candidates kept up with their winning spree with over 100 candidates from the pink party getting elected as chairpersons. The municipalities where the ruling party won the chairpersons’ posts included Adilabad, Khanapur, Chennur, Jangaon, Parkal, Narsampet, Wardhannapet, Mahbubabad, Dornakal, Maripeda, Thorrur, Bhupalapally, Sattupalli, Madhira, Wyra, Kothagudem, Yellandu , Mancherial, Suryapet, Nirmal, Motkur, Chityal, Halia, Tirumalgherry, Huzurnagar, Bhimgal, Dharmapuri and many others. The AIMIM candidate won the election for chairperson’s post in Bhainsa Municipality.
Celebrations broke out across the State as the results were announced, with party activists distributing sweets and dancing.
