Paloncha (Kothagudem): Steps were being taken to meet the power demand this summer, said TS Genco Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) D Prabhakar Rao on Tuesday.
The dream of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to turn Telangana into a power surplus State would soon be realised. “There will be no shortage of power this summer as Genco is fully geared up to produce required power,” he said.
Prabhakar Rao was here on Tuesday to inaugurate a wagon tippling system used to dump coal from wagons and haul it to the plant at Kothagudem Thermal Power Station seventh phase, which began production recently.
The wagon tippling system was not ready when the plant was commissioned, and the coal had been transported using tippers all these days. With the wagon tippler coming into use, the seventh phase production process would be improved, he said.
The 800 MW KTPS seventh phase was earning about Rs 7 crore a day, and except for some minor technical issues, it was doing well in terms of achieving peak power production, the CMD said.
Soon Bhadradri Power Station being constructed at Manuguru would be completed, he added. GENCO Directors Lakshmaiah, Sachitanandam, Chief Engineers Sammaiah and PSN Murthy and others were present.
